INSTRUCTOR
Game Production/Modeling/Animation/Texture & Lighting
Currently, I'm teaching at the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) as an evening adjunct instructor in the Game Production program. The classes I have taught at IADT are Game Production 1, 2 and 3, Modeling 1, Advanced Modeling, Game Animation, and Texture and Lighting.
In short, my teaching history starts with ECC (Edmonds Community College) who wanted to start a 3D animation program using Maya. I created a Intro to Maya curriculum for them and taught for a couple of quarters, then handed the reigns over to capable hands. The work I did for ECC caught the eyes at Edmonds School District #15 which consists of four high schools. They wanted to set up a high end computer lab teaching 3D as a vocational class. As a prototype, I initially created a 3D Animation class at Meadowdale High School, taught for a year, and then later replicated the class for the other schools. The following year I taught at Lynnwood High, Mountlake Terrace High and Edmonds Woodway High, helping to bring the other teachers up to speed. Then like ECC, handed the reigns over to capable hands.
I went on to teach for Mesmer when they brought in companies wanting to train their art production departments. The first group was Valve Software, the makers of Half-Life. Then I taught three groups from Humongous Entertainment, makers of Pajama Sam, Freddi Fish and Backyard Sports. Next came Cornish College of the Arts. Cornish was unique in that they wanted to focus on a curriculum that stressed critical thinking. Based on this, I developed curriculum that focused on problem solving and taught there for a quarter.
Here are some recent samples of work done by a few of the students I have taught at IADT.
GAME PRODUCTION 3
The goal of this class is to create high quality game assets using next-gen production techniques with Maya, Photoshop and UDK. The term assignment is to choose a specific city, depict the characteristics of buildings from a given neighborhood, and create a small exterior map level. This is a 5 hour, once a week for 10 weeks, totally 50 hours class.Ryan Lee - San Francisco - www.ryanscottlee.com

GAME PRODUCTION 2 - Samples To Come
The term assignment is to create a custom interior map level. The focus of the class is to complete each workflow phase to complete the production pipeline. Each student chose a lair from a James Bond movie. This is a 5 hour, once a week for 10 weeks, totally 50 hours class.
GAME PRODUCTION 1
This is an intro to map building with UDK. Each student uses a pre-made interior building mesh template pieces to assemble a map based on specific reference images. Then they work to create high quality assets to swap out the template pieces with the new ones.Chris Irwin - Rio - http://ci3d.blogspot.com/
ADVANCED MODELING
This class is exactly about it's title. Students are taught NURBS and curve modeling as well as more advanced poly mesh modeling.Jon Jow - Sub - http://sites.google.com/site/jonjow3denvironmentartist/
